Recap - Roadrunners Defeat Southern Miss 23-20

Sincere McCormick ran for 173 yards as UTSA handled Southern Miss by a score of 23-20 on Saturday at Carlisle-Faulkner Field at M.M. Roberts Stadium.

Bettors who backed the Roadrunners were disappointed, as they failed to cover the closing number of -9.0. Over-Under bettors saw the total score go UNDER the closing total of 53.5.

Sincere McCormick rushed for 173 yards, while Brenden Brady added 35 yards in the win. Joshua Cephus and Zakhari Franklin added 44 and 22 receiving yards respectively.

Frank Gore Jr. rushed for 70 yards for Southern Miss, while Kevin Perkins added 13 yards. Tate Whatley threw for 272 yards for the Golden Eagles, while receivers Tim Jones and Frank Gore Jr. had 65 and 57 yards respectively.

Southern Miss outgained UTSA 347-304 yards in the game, while the battle of first downs was won 18-16 by the Golden Eagles.

Southern Miss lost the time of possession battle 31:30-28:30, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.

Next game, UTSA takes its act home to face North Texas looking for another win. For Southern Miss, they head on the road to face UAB.
