Hamlin Opens Playoffs With Win At Darlington

Denny Hamlin won the Southern Cook Out 500 in the first race of the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs at Darlington Raceway in Darlington, South Carolina, on Sunday, September 5.

Hamlin held off regular-season champion Kyle Larson on the final lap for his first win of the season. It was the 45th win of his career and fourth at Darlington. With the victory, Hamlin secured a spot in the Round of 12 in the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs.

Kyle Larson, Ross Chastain, Martin Truex Jr., Kevin Harvick, Kurt Busch, Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano, Chris Buescher and Austin Dillon rounded out the top 10.

Next up on the NASCAR docket is the second race in the three-race Round of 16, the Federated Auto Parts 400 Salute to First Responders at Richmond Raceway in Richmond, Virginia, on Saturday, September 11.
